PGA on Wheels is a Success at Jumpstart Games
The PGA on Wheels headed to the Calgary Soccer Centre for the third year in a row for the Jumpstart Games where over 600 kids took part in various golf activities throughout the day. Thank you to John Deneer (Bearspaw CC), Joel Douglas (Cottonwood G&CC), Graeme Drummond (Inglewood G&CC), Josh Gardner (Oasis Greens GC), Brady Karlson (Canyon Meadows G&CC), Sean Murray (Bearspaw CC) and Sean Thompson (Calgary G&CC) for volunteering their time to support the PGA on Wheels program. Pro-Senior event hosted by Inglewood G&CC
The draw is posted for the annual PGA of Alberta Pro-Senior event hosted by Inglewood G&CC on Thursday, July 27th. A massive field of 60 teams located throughout the province will battle for the coveted Pro-Senior title as well as a piece of the $15,450 purse. Shotgun start begins in the afternoon at 1pm. EFW Radiology Pro-Lady South Hosted by Glencoe G&CC
The Pro-Lady consists of one Club Professional paired up with a Female Amateur in a net best ball format, with the top professional scores winning money. This year’s Pro-Lady South event, sponsored by EFW Radiology, will be hosted by Glencoe G&CC in Calgary on Monday, July 24th. A full field of 50 teams will compete all afternoon with hopes of winning the trophy and claiming the second Pro-Lady event of the season. The tournament begins with a 1pm shotgun start. Pro Series Hosted by Edmonton Garrison Memorial G&CC
The draw is posted for sixth Golf Supply House Professional Series of the season, this time being hosted at Edmonton Garrison Memorial G&CC on Tuesday, July 25th. ROBB WINS IN OLDS
Randy Robb (Edge Golf School) managed to shoot a 6-under 66 but needed four extra holes to win the Players' Tour event hosted by Olds GC. Keith Whitecotton (The Quarry) also scored a 6-under 66 to capture second place. Wes Heffernan (Golf Canada Centre) finished in a close third carding a 5-under 67. Click here for all the results.

PLAYOFF NEEDED AT COUGAR CREEK
It took 1 playoff hole to decide a winner at the Golf Supply House Professional Series Event hosted by Cougar Creek GR. Corbin Adams (Jagare Ridge GC) needed a par on hole #1 to win the playoff. Weston Gillett (Drayton Valley GC) finished 2nd also scoring a 3-over 75. Click here for all the results.

APPLY FOR A BURSARY TODAY
The PGA of Alberta is pleased to present four bursaries of $750 each to deserving Candidates for Membership and Assistants who meet or exceed the bursary criteria as outlined. These bursaries are awarded annually at the Awards Banquet at the Buying Show. All CFM's and Assistants are eligible and encouraged to apply. A minimum of two of the bursaries will be reserved for seasonal CFM's (working 9 months or less for their employer). Please click here for the application form. Players’ Tour #4 Hosted by Olds GC
The next Players’ Tour event sponsored by Jancor Agencies is scheduled to take place on July 19th at Olds GC. Thirty players will be competing for a purse of $4,050 and Order of Merit points towards the year-end Tour Championship. Tee times will begin at 9:00am. JUNIOR SCHOLARSHIPS ARE AVAILABLE!
The PGA of Alberta is proud to offer four Junior Scholarships of $1,000 each. Two of these scholarships will be awarded to children of PGA of Alberta Members (no golf experience needed) and the other two will be awarded to selected Alberta Juniors, 18 years or younger, who meet the specific criteria. Winston GC and NGA @ McCall Lake win at Pro-Junior South
The team of Dale Tomlinson and Brendan Brown from The Winston GC took home Low Gross honors today at the Winston GC in the 2017 Pro-Junior South. Team Winston GC shot a 9-under par score of 63 to edge out the competition. Terry Carter and Kylin Fraser of NGA @ McCall Lake combined for an excellent score of 10-under 62 to take home the Net title. Dustin Risdon of NGA @ McCall Lake shot a 3-under 69 to win the Individual Professional title. Click here for the full tournament results.

HEFFERNAN CLIMBS THE LEADERBOARD TO FINISH WITH A VICTORY
Rainy weather conditions for the players to start round 2 of the Third Players' Tour event of the season at Redwood Meadows G&CC. The skies opened up for the players on the back 9 as Wes Heffernan (Golf Canada Centre) was able to climb the leaderboard to finish first overall by posting a 4-under 68 on day 2, with 4 birdies and 1 eagle, for a 36-hole total of 137. Kent Fukushima (Affiliate) was able to maintain his steady play and finished the tournament in second place posting a second round score of 2-under, for a 36 hole total of 138, which locked him into second place. Jamie Kureluk (GolfTEC Calgary) was able to make his way up the leaderboard and finish day 2 by shooting 6-under 66, for a 36 hole total of 139, clinching him a third place finish.

KENT LEADS AFTER DAY ONE OF PLAYERS’ TOUR
With shaky weather to begin the day for round one of the Redwood Meadows G&CC Players’ Tour, blue skies ending up prevailing resulting in great conditions for the players. No stranger to being at the top of the leaderboard, Kent Fukushima (Affiliate) separated himself from the stacked field of Professionals to lead after day one. Kent followed up a fantastic front nine of 1-under with an even better back nine to finish the day at 4-under 68. Right behind Kent in a 4-way tie for second were the likes of Wes Heffernan (Golf Canada Centre), Tyler LeBouthillier (Lynx Ridge GC), Scott Smith (Bearspaw CC) and Scott Stiles (Inglewood G&CC). All competitors shot an outstanding 3-under 69 to sit one back of Fukushima. Click here for full round one results and round two tee times.

Draw for the Players' Tour at Redwood Meadows G&CC
The draw is posted for the third PGA of Alberta Players' Tour event presented by Jancor Agencies. The new format to the Players’ Tour series will now see the Association’s most competitive players going head-to-head including the top players on last year’s Order of Merit. The tournament is being hosted by Redwood Meadows G&CC on July 9th & 10th. Tee Times begin at 2:30pm on Sunday, July 9th and 8:00am on Monday, July 10th. Purse is set at $6,250. Blackhawk GC and Camrose GC win at Pro-Junior North
The team of Evan Dyki & Will Holan of Blackhawk GC took home Low Gross honors today at the Edmonton Petroleum G&CC in the 2017 Pro-Junior North. Team Blackhawk GC shot a 4-under par score of 68 to edge out the competition. Braxton Fox and Erik Bouck of Camrose GC combined for an excellent score of 8-under 64 to take home the Net title. Larry Petryk of Raven Crest G&CC shot a 2-under 70 to win the Individual Professional title. Click here for the full tournament results.

PGA on Wheels a Huge Success for Canada Day Celebration
Thank you to Ryan Doucette (Cougar Creek GR), Trevor Goplin (The Derrick G&WC), Tyler Willner (Royal Mayfair GC) and Ron Vander Mey (Lewis Estates GC) and all the volunteers that helped make the PGA on Wheels in Spruce Grove for Canada Day a huge success. The PGA on Wheels area saw hundreds of kids throughout the day take part in the various junior activities offered. The next PGA on Wheels event will be the Jumpstart Games at the Calgary Soccer Centre on Thursday, July 20th. BRODERSON WINS AT HOME

RISDON TIES COURSE RECORD AT WOODSIDE GC
Dustin Risdon of the National Golf Academy at McCall Lake, was able to finish day 2 by tying the Woodside GC competitive course record, posting a 7-under 63, for a 36-hole total of 132, clinching him the top spot. Keith Whitecotton (The Quarry) was able to climb the leaderboard to finish second overall by posting a 2-under 68 on day 2, for a 36-hole total of 137. Click here for full results.

LOCKE HAS A TWO STROKE LEAD AFTER ROUND 1 AT WOODSIDE GC
The second event in the Players’ Tour series sponsored by Jancor Agencies reminded everyone who the top golfers in Alberta are. Thirty four Professionals set out to play for a piece of the $8,000 on the line. With great conditions in the morning, competitors played to keep scores below par for round one. By the 9th hole Eric Locke (Priddis Greens G&CC) and Kent Fukushima (Affiliate) led the front nine hoping it would be enough to finish on top for the first round. Locke fired 6 birdies finishing with a 4-under 66 for the round one lead. The afternoon presented some difficult conditions as the rain and wind started to pick up.
