Spring Seminar speaker Mike Malaska named 2011 PGA of America National Teacher of the Year
Mike’s career has spanned for over 38 years of instruction and playing experience. Mike’s awards have made him a recognizable icon in the golf world. He was named the 2010 Southwest Section’s PGA “Teacher of the Year” and most recently voted the 2011 “PGA National Teacher of the Year” in America. Then more unusual for a golf instructor, Mike also earned the 2011 “Senior Player of the Year” for the Southwest Section PGA.
Picture Butte GC takes advantage of 'Unique Weather' and opens on regular greens
The Picture Butte GC has opened nine holes on regular greens as of February 1st and is hoping to have another nine open by the weekend if the weather cooperates. The course's earliest previous opening date was March 11th in 2007. Fox Hollow GC in Calgary is also open on temporary greens, at least until the snow flies again.
PD Series #5: Visual Merchandising, February 8th - Country Hills GC
Becky Wilkins of The Association of Golf Merchandisers will help you take your merchandising skills to the next level. During this 6 hour workshop you will focus on pricing strategy, visual communication methods, and visual display basics, signage and props usage to make your shop a showcase. The workshop will conclude with hands on merchandising experience.

Werbicki, Ingalls and Horton recognized as National Award Winners.
In an unprecedented announcement made today by the PGA of Canada, three PGA of Alberta Members have been recognized with National Awards for their accomplishments in 2011. Adam Werbicki (The Derrick), Dean Ingalls (Pinebrook) and Paul Horton (Heritage Pointe) won Junior Leader, Merchandiser and Teacher of the Year Awards in their respective categories.

The 2012 PGA of Alberta Tournament Schedule will be released on March 1st, 2012. Many events are booked through the 2015 season, if your golf club would like to host a tournament during the next few seasons, please contact the PGA of Alberta Office.
Jeff Ritter announced as a presenter at the 2012 Spring Seminar
Jeff Ritter will join Mike Malaska as a presenter at the 2012 PGA of Alberta Spring Seminar. A consistent presence in the world of golf media, Jeff has been seen and heard on ESPN, FOX Sports, FOX Sports Radio, Sirius XM Radio and The Golf Channel. Ritter was formerly an instructor with the Golf Digest Schools and the acclaimed Dave Pelz Short Game School. In 2010 Jeff was named by Golf Digest Magazine as one of the Best Young Teachers in America!
