GERLITZ WINS FIRST EVENT OF THE SEASON
Jamie Gerlitz (Picture Butte GC) took 5 extra holes to capture the first Golf Supply House Professional Series event of the season hosted by Desert Blume GC. Albert Pistorius (Pinebrook G&CC) also shot a 1-under 71 but lost in the playoff. Mark Corrigan (Mickelson National GC) and Jesse Florkowski (Medicine Hat G&CC) round out the top 4 with even par 72’s. Click here for all the results.

The Jack Nicklaus Signature, Northern Bear Golf Club has graciously offered their facility for this "Celebration of Life" for PGA of Canada Professional, Class A Life Member Kenneth Henry Matson. Team Match Play Championship
The fifth annual PGA of Alberta Team Match Play Championship begins next week on Wednesday, May 17th with 38 teams from the North and South battling against each other all season. Last year’s Champions from the North of Kasey Timms (Highlands GC) & Scott Anderson (River Bend G&RA) will pair up again and look to defend their Championship against 37 other talented duos. The event is being hosted at Wolf Creek GR in Ponoka with matches continuing all season long to determine the champion. Round one will begin with a shotgun start at 10:00am & round two starts at 3:00pm. The draw for round one is now posted. Click here to be directed to the bracket.
Desert Blume Ready to Host first event of the season
Desert Blume GC in Medicine Hat is ready to host the first Golf Supply House Professional Series event of the season on Monday, May 15th. Field size is confirmed at 35 players and purse is set at $4,650. First tee time will be at 10am. Click here to see the current field and draw.

Field size expands for Priddis Greens G&CC Professional Series
The field for the Professional Series (1-day) at Priddis Greens G&CC on June 19th has now opened up to ninety players. All members on the waitlist are now registered for the event. The tournament start time will now be 8am tee times. Click here for event details.
TEAM MATCH PLAY OPENS Up Field
The PGA of Alberta Team Match Play Championship has now opened the field to allow all teams on the waitlist to play in the event. For the fifth year in a row the Championship will be held at Wolf Creek GR in Ponoka on Wednesday, May 17th with round one beginning at 10am. Northern Bear coming out of hibernation for 2017 golf season
Northern Bear is on the prowl again. Fort McMurray businessman Irv Williams has bought the Sherwood Park golf course out of receivership. That’s simply outstanding news for Edmonton’s golf community because Northern Bear is arguably one of the top layouts in all of Canada and presents a stern challenge to anyone’s game. “It’s finally official,” said Jay Barrett, PGA of Alberta Head Professional at Northern Bear GC. “We’ll be ready to go as soon as the weather co-operates”. New name, same game at what's now the Winston Golf Club in Calgary
Golfers like the new logo. Give them a second or two … and they love it. At least, that’s been the experience of staff at the re-branded Winston Golf Club, the semi-private escape that was formerly known as Calgary Elks. “The logo is two tees and a club head to form a W, and people just love it,” beamed Shawn Lavoie, PGA of Alberta Executive Professional and General Manager at The Winston. “A lot of people at the Golf Show stopped by and said, ‘Wow, that’s a great logo.’ Then you ask them, ‘Do you see what it is?’ And they have that ah-ha moment.
