Alberta Golf Shows 2017: Early Registration Deadline
Register today for the 2017 Edmonton and Calgary Golf Shows in March. These Shows are great opportunities for you to promote your club and your club's programs to over 7,000 consumers. The early registration option of $1,000 (100 sq. ft. booth) plus a prize donation of $400 is available until December 2nd. GRANT COOK IN MEMORIAM (1969-2016)
Long time PGA of Canada Member and PGA of Alberta Teacher of the Year award recipient, Grant Cook passed away on November 27th, 2016 at the age of 47. He is survived by his wife, Katherine and sons Andrew and Mathew. Born in Kirkland Lake, Ontario on May 5th, 1969 Grant spent a short time here before migrating west to Fort McMurray with his family in 1976. His post-secondary education at the University of Calgary brought him to Calgary in 1988 to begin his journey towards completing his Bachelor of Arts in Economics and a minor in Commerce Degree. It was in Calgary that he joined the PGA of Canada in 1992 and developed as a Golf Professional for the following 24 years. He was only at Shaw-Nee Slopes GC for one season before being appointed Head Professional, where he remained for 8 years. For 12 years, as a Teaching Professional at the National Golf Academy he continued to make a great impact on many PGA of Alberta member’s lives. As a well-respected instructor, Grant incorporated the philosophies of the National Golf Academy to golfers at all levels. He was nominated for PGA of Alberta Teacher of the Year in 2007, 2008, and 2009. Grant was awarded with this honour in 2008. He made an impact on everyone who had the opportunity to meet him and he will be greatly missed. Please click here for information on Grant Cook’s Celebration of Life and on his Memorial Fund.

PGA of Alberta Club Professional Team
Congratulations to Kevin Black (Redwood Meadows G&CC), Dallas Cantera (Cardiff G&CC), Garett Jenkinson (Golf Performance Canada at Inglewood) and Blair Oko (Blair Oko Golf Academy) who will be representing team Alberta at the 2016 PGA Club Professional Championship of Canada at the Port Royal Golf Club in Southampton, Bermuda on November 22 – 24. PGA of Alberta Bursary Program
The PGA of Alberta is pleased to present four bursaries of $750 to the following deserving Candidates for Membership and Assistants': Alex Steffens (Silver Springs G&CC), Jeremy Lavallee (Royal Mayfair GC), Samuel Kirkness (Priddis Greens G&CC) and Sean Murray (Bearspaw CC). CLAYTON ROBB IN MEMORIAM (1939-2016)
PGA of Canada Life Member and PGA of Alberta Lifetime Achievement award winner, Clayton Robb passed away on November 2nd, 2016 at the age of 77. Clayton is remembered by longtime partner Joan Randell, three children; Randy, Tim and Sue; and seven grandchildren. Born on April 9th, 1939, and raised in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Clayton first picked up a golf club under the watchful eye of then Riverside G&CC’s Head Professional Bill Turnbull, where at the age of twelve he became one of the club’s caddies. Deciding to pursue career in golf, Clayton joined the PGA of Canada in 1960 while working as an Assistant Professional at the Riverside G&CC. He went on to work as Head Professional in Saskatchewan and became a Member of the PGA of Saskatchewan Board of Directors for four years, including one year as President. In 1975, he made the move back to the Alberta Zone as the Head Professional and Director of Instruction at Pinebrook G&CC. He used his twenty five year stay to develop and pursue his greatest passion in life and made his mark as one of the most influential and talented golf instructors in the country. In 1996, Clayton was voted by his peers as Teacher of the Year. His involvement with the PGA of Alberta has been instrumental. He made a mark on everyone who knew him and he will be greatly missed.
