PLAYOFF IN EDMONTON
Craig Gibson (Sirocco GC) continued with his great season with a 4-under 68 but needed one extra hole to capture the last Players' Tour event of the season hosted by Glendale G&CC and sponsored by Jancor Agencies. Mike Belbin (Royal Mayfair GC) found his name back at the top of the leader board finishing second. Scott Stiles (Inglewood G&CC) and David MacComb (Blackhawk GC) tied for third with 3-under 69’s. Shaw Charity Classic Event Qualifier Draw
Twenty-nine players will compete at the Event Qualifier - the last stage before the Shaw Charity Classic held at Canyon Meadows G&CC on August 30 – September 3. The Qualifier will begin at 7:30am on Tuesday, August 29th at The Hamptons GC in Calgary. Good luck to PGA of Alberta member Scott Allred (Elbow Springs GC) and all other participants. 2-day Professional Series Hosted at Blackhawk GC
Blackhawk GC is ready to host the PGA of Alberta two-day Golf Supply House Professional Series set to take place on August 29th & 30th. This is the final Professional Series of the season so players will attempt to qualify for the Tour Championship by being on the top 10 money list for Pro Series events. Tee times will begin at 11am on August 29th for round one and 7:30am on August 30th for round two. Purse is set at $10,050. To view the current field and draw, please click here.

Five Advance to Shaw Charity Classic Event Qualifier
The Winston GC in Calgary saw 19 participants today giving it their all to qualify for the Shaw Charity Classic. However, only the top five earned a spot in the Event Qualifier being held on Tuesday, August 29th at The Hamptons GC. Congratulations to Brett Sampson (69), Bobby Romero (70), Wayne Bach (70), Jim Karr (72) and Kyd Connick (73) for all advancing to the Event Qualifier. Click here for more information.
Shaw Charity Classic Pre-Qualifier Draw
Twenty players will play for five spots at the Champions Tour Event Qualifier - the last stage before the Shaw Charity Classic being held at Canyon Meadows G&CC. The Pre-Qualifier will begin at 8am on Thursday, August 24th at The Winston GC. Bruce steals PGA of Alberta Championship on the 18th!
The warm weather and ideal course conditions made for a perfect day at the River Bend G&RA as 97 competitors went into round two of the PGA of Alberta Championship, sponsored by Club Car - TaylorMade adidas. Adam Bruce (Glendale G&CC) was able to sneak passed day one leader, Albert Pistorius (Pinebrook G&CC) with an eagle on 18 to claim his first Championship title. Bruce will take home $5,400 in prize money for winning the Championship with a 68-68-136 (8-under). In a three-way tie for second was Pistorius, Wes Heffernan (Golf Canada Centre) and Blaine Kruger (Stony Plain GC), all carding a two day total of 7-under 137. Rounding out the top five was Keith Whitecotton (The Quarry) after scoring a two day total 139. Click here for final results.
Heffernan Eclipses Field at Round One of PGA of Alberta Championship
Competition was strong as Wes Heffernan (Golf Canada Centre) finished round one at the top of the leaderboard posting a 6-under 66. In his first PGA of Alberta Championship appearance, Albert Pistorius (Pinebrook G&CC) finished round one tied for second with Dallas Cantera (Cardiff G&CC) after posting a 5-under 67. The battle for fourth place resulted in a 3-way tie consisting of Adam Bruce (Glendale G&CC), Blaine Kruger (Stony Plain GC) and defending Champion Dustin Risdon (National Golf Academy @ McCall Lake), who all posted a score of 4-under 68. The strong competition from round one made for a jam packed leaderboard going into round two. Action resumes bright and early tomorrow morning with the first tee time at 7:00am.
