PING Club Pro Championship
The PGA of Alberta PING Club Pro Championship will be taking place next week on August 9th and 10th at The Derrick G&WC in Edmonton, a Jeff Mingay designed course. This year’s field consists of 54 of Alberta’s finest Head Professionals and Executive Professionals who will compete in the two-day stroke play Championship to determine this year’s victor and for a piece of the $15,425 purse. Tee times will begin at 1pm on August 9th and 8am on August 10th. Please click here to view the field and draw.
Professional Series Hosted by Speargrass GC

PGA of Alberta Order of Merit
The new leader of the PGA of Alberta Order of Merit is now Craig Gibson (Sirocco GC) after winning the Assistants’ Championship. With the win, Craig has secured himself a spot of the Cobra Puma Golf Assistants’ Team that will go on to represent Team Alberta in the PGA Assistants' Championship of Canada at Richmond CC in British Columbia. Craig Gibson Wins Assistants’ Championship in a Playoff Battle
Spectators gathered around the 1st tee and 18th green of Cottonwood G&CC for the Assistants’ Championship, sponsored by Cobra Puma Golf, to watch 74 of Alberta’s top Assistants’ take on the quick surfaces. A playoff on hole 18 was needed to decide the winner. With spectators and fellow competitors lining the green, Locke’s second shot of the hole went into the water and opened the door for Gibson to claim the 2017 Assistants’ Championship title with an easy 2-putt, for a final score of 2-under 140 over 36 holes. The battle for third place resulted in a 2-way tie consisting of Kasey Timms (Highlands GC) and Braden Chown (Desert Blume GC) who both posted a score of 1-under 141. Scott Smith Leads at Assistants’ Championship
The 27th annual PGA of Alberta Assistants’ Championship sponsored by Cobra Puma Golf started with great conditions for the 74 competitors that took to Cottonwood G&CC in De Winton, Alberta. Leading the field after round one was Scott Smith (Bearspaw CC) after shooting a low of 1-under 70. Sitting one back of Smith are the likes of six other Assistant Professionals that include Kasey Timms (Highlands GC), Eric Locke (Priddis Greens G&CC), Kolby Vold (Wolf Creek GR), Mike Belbin (Royal Mayfair GC), Braden Chown (Desert Blume GC) and Jordan Weich (Earl Grey GC), who all shot even par 71 for the day. Round two tee times will begin tomorrow again at 9am. Final group of Weich, Chown and Smith tee off at 1pm. Click here for full round one results and round two draw.
Club Pro Championship Round One Start Time
The start time for round one of the Club Professional Championship on Wednesday, August 9th at The Derrick G&WC has moved from 2pm to 1pm, one hour earlier. Round two start time remains the same at 8am. For more information on the event, please click here.
Assistants' Championship presented by COBRA PUMA GOLF
The draw for the PGA of Alberta Assistants' Championship presented by Cobra Puma Golf is now posted. Seventy-five of the top Professionals will compete for the $17,000 purse and to be crowned this year’s Champion at Cottonwood G&CC. Valley Ridge GC wins the Pro-Senior at Inglewood G&CC
Despite the extremely hot conditions, team Valley Ridge GC was able to finish the day with a victory at the 2017 PGA of Alberta Pro-Senior event. Jeremy Maher and partner Pat Naim posted a team net best ball score of 9-under 62 to clinch the victory. Winning on the Individual Pro side in a 4-hole playoff was David MacComb (Blackhawk GC), shooting a 4-under 67 which edged out Dustin Risdon (NGA @ McCall Lake) and Brett Burgeson (Country Hills GC). Players’ Tour Hosted by Highwood G&CC
