In Memorium of Gerry Collett
Gerry passed away peacefully in the early morning on February 15, 2025, at the Royal Alexandra Hospital at the age of 63.
Gerry will be lovingly remembered by his siblings, Ken (Michelle) and Randy (Anne); and nieces, Lisa, Cindy, Janelle (Nick) and nephew Nathan. He will also be missed by many extended family members and good friends.
Gerry was born in St. John’s, Newfoundland, but was raised across Canada, having lived in Torbay, Summerside, Winnipeg, and Edmonton. After finishing high school, he apprenticed and worked in the commercial printing business for a number of years. Looking for a change, Gerry took a grounds keeper course and began a long career in the golf industry. Not long after that start, he completed the required training to become a golf professional and a member of the CPGA. Gerry subsequently worked as an assistant pro at golf courses in Grande Prairie, Kamloops, St. Albert, and Spruce Grove.
Gerry enjoyed hanging out with friends and family, often visiting his parents on weekends to catch up and enjoy a good meal. He was outgoing and personable, which was a benefit to his public-facing career as a golf pro and also helped him establish a strong network of friends. It was with those friends that Gerry enjoyed going to movies, getting together for a party, or play a round of golf.
An end-of-life celebration will be held at 10:00 AM on March 14, 2025, at Evergreen Funeral Home, 16204 Fort Road, Edmonton, with a reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Liver Foundation, Canadian Hemophilia Society, or a charity of your choice.
