The PGA of Alberta is pleased to announce the launch of 2018 Hole-In-One program. Foster Park Brokers Inc. (www.fpb.ca) is excited to partner again with the PGA of Alberta to provide a Hole-In-One Insurance Program for the Members. This program provides Members with preferred pricing on prize limits ranging from $500 to $50,000. FPB is also able to accommodate prize limits up to $1,000,000 outside of the program.
PGA on Wheels Attends Annual Go Girl Event in Red Deer
The first PGA on Wheels event of the season saw the PGA of Alberta and Alberta Golf attend the annual Go Girl event at the Collicutt Centre in Red Deer to help grow the game to girls in the fifth grade. Over 110 girls were introduced to the sport and received golf instructions from the Professionals and Coaches that attended. Big thanks goes to our Professionals Marsha Rogers (The Derrick G&WC), Michelle Van Slyke (Belvedere G&CC), Shannon Raina (Sirocco GC) and Tiffany Gordon (Heritage Pointe Golf Academy) for taking time out of their day to help grow the game to the youth. Eric Locke (Priddis Greens G&CC) wins his first event of the season at Sirocco GC. Eric jumped off to a great start to the round after posting 3 birdies and 6 pars on the front nine and another 3 birdies and 6 more pars on the back nine, for a blistering bogey free 6-under 66 to capture the second Golf Supply House Series event of the season. In close second was Riley Fleming (NGA Dome) who posted a 5-under 67, continuing his great play from last week at Vulcan G&CC. Finishing just shy of Riley was Kent Fukushima (Redwood Meadows G&CC) 3-under 69.
The draw for the Golf Supply House Series event at Sirocco GC is now live. The event will be hosted at Sirocco GC on Monday, May 14th. The field size is confirmed at 70 players with the purse set at $8,900. Tee times will begin 8:00am on Monday morning.
As previously stated, the Skins Pot for every GSH Series event will begin at $400 which is sponsored by IMPACT Tournament Systems. This boost into the Skins will bring added value for the participants by increasing the size of Skins available to be won.
Riley Fleming of the National Golf Academy Dome wasted no time to make an impression on the Association after firing a tournament best 5-under 65 at Vulcan G&CC for the first Golf Supply House Series event of the season. Riley started the day hot with birdies on four of the first five holes to put himself in a strong position for the rest of the round. Not without competition, finishing just shy of Riley was Kent Fukushima (Redwood Meadows G&CC) and Mark Corrigan (Mickelson National GC) both carding a 4-under 66. Three other players tied for fourth at 1-under 69.

Coverage can be purchased by visiting www.pgaofalberta.com and logging in to your member profile. Select your account (your name) in the top right-hand corner followed by “My Hole-In-One”. Step-by-step instructions will guide you through the purchasing process. Once completed, a confirmation is submitted to the PGA of Alberta Office and your request is then submitted on your behalf to Foster Park Insurance that day (any Hole-In-One requests made on weekends will be submitted first thing Monday morning). It’s as easy as that!
First Golf Supply House Series Event of the Season at Vulcan G&CC
The PGA of Alberta is thrilled to release the first draw of the 2018 season for the Golf Supply House Series. The event will be hosted at Vulcan G&CC on Monday, May 7th. Field size is confirmed at 47 players with the purse set at $6,250. Tee times begin at 9:00am.

Fore! Finally! Calgary’s Golf Season Starts This Week
The phone was ringing off the hook this weekend at Fox Hollow GC. With the 18-hole hangout opening for the season Monday morning after a winter that seemed like it might never end, most folks were calling to ask for a tee-time. “I’ve had guys bribing me to play today,” revealed PGA of Alberta Head Professional, Greg Griffith, with a chuckle. “They’re saying, ‘C’mon, why don’t you let us out early?”. Junior Scholarship Applications are now being Accepted!
The PGA of Alberta is proud to present four Junior Scholarships of $1,000 each. Two of these scholarships will be awarded to children of PGA of Alberta Members (no golf experience needed) and the other two will be awarded to selected Alberta Juniors, 25 years or younger, who meet the specific criteria. Registration for the 2018 Playing Ability Tests is now open. The PGA of Alberta will be conducting 5 Playing Ability Tests (P.A.T) this year for those who are interested in becoming a PGA of Canada Member. Please register with the PGA of Canada prior to registering with the PGA of Alberta. After becoming a PGA of Canada applicant, please create a profile on the PGA of Alberta website . Once you have created a profile, you will be invited to register online for the PAT’s under the Tournament Schedule section of the website.

The first PGA on Wheels event this year will be taking place at the Collicutt Centre in Red Deer on May 16th for the Annual Go Girl Event. We are in need of PGA of Alberta Professionals to volunteer and give instruction at the various junior golf activities that will be setup. At the PGA of Alberta Annual General Meeting held March 5th, Dave Henzie (Nanton GC), Jeremy Tanner (Highlands GC), and Sean Thompson (Cottonwood G&CC) all were elected to the Board of Directors. Shawn Lavoie (The Winston GC) was re-elected.

At the PGA of Alberta Annual General Meeting held March 5th, Cory Collins (The Derrick G&WC), Joel Douglas (Cottonwood G&CC), Jae Maegaard (Paradise Canyon GR) and Pat Wilmot (Bearspaw CC) were all elected to the Assistants’ Board of Directors. Craig Gibson (Sirocco GC) was re-elected.

New Component to be Introduced at the 2017 Buying Show - Register Now
The PGA of Alberta is very excited to announce a brand new component to the 2017 Buying Show. Canada's premier food service supplier, Gordon Food Service (GFS), will introduce the food aspect of the Golf Industry at this year’s Buying Show.

TIGHT FINISH AT MATCH PLAY FINAL
The cool and damp conditions didn’t stop Tyler LeBouthillier (Lynx Ridge GC) and Scott Smith (Bearspaw CC) from capturing the 2017 Team Match Play Championship hosted by Red Deer G&CC. The back and forth match saw Tyler and Scott jump out to a 3up lead after 12 holes but then Dallas Cantera (Cardiff G&CC) and his partner Jeremy Lavallee (Royal Mayfair GC) made a charge to take the match all the way to 18. Fortunately for Smith and LeBouthillier they managed to hold on for a 1up victory.

BATSEL HELD ON DOWN THE STRETCH
Dillon Batsel (Connaught GC) held on down the stretch to win the Golf Supply House Professional Series Event hosted by Blackhawk GC. Batsel shot a two day total 4-under 138 to win by four shots over Albert Pistorius (Pinebrook G&CC). Pistorius made a charge on day two shooting a 6-under 65. David MacComb (Blackhawk GC) shot 2-under on day two to finish third at 144. Click here for all the results.

Congratulations to Keaton Allred (River Ridge GC), Michael Pike (Fort McMurray GC) and Crystal Shapka (Highwood G&CC) who all passed their Playing Ability Test today at the Alberta Springs GR.
BATSEL LEADS AFTER DAY 1
Dillon Batsel (Connaught GC) holds the lead at the inaugural 2 Day Professional Series Event sponsored by Golf Supply House and hosted by Blackhawk GC. Batsel shot a blistering 1-under 70 in the tough windy conditions. Tyler Komick (Ranch G&CC) sits alone in second at even par. Craig Gibson (Sirocco GC) continued with his great season with a 4-under 68 but needed one extra hole to capture the last Players' Tour event of the season hosted by Glendale G&CC and sponsored by Jancor Agencies. ADAMS WINS FOR THE SECOND TIME
Corbin Adams (Jagare Ridge GC) made it two wins in a row. After a double bogie on the first hole, Corbin decided to go 9-under on the next 17 to finish at 7-under 65. Gage Murphy (Cardiff G&CC) also played well shooting a 4-under 68 to finish second at the Golf Supply House Professional Series Event hosted by Edmonton Garrison Memorial G&CC.
