An open discussion on growing the game of golf and promoting your book of business. Todd Halpen, Randy Robb, Luke Workman and Paul Horton will be sharing their experiences as golf instructors to give insight on what has made them successful over many years.  Josh Fleming has graciously agreed to mediate the event.

2021 PGA of Alberta Teacher of the Year, Todd Halpen has dedicated over 27 years to the game of golf; as a student, a professional player, entrepreneur, and now a teacher. With an extensive competitive, instructional, and business background, Todd has made a name for himself in the golf industry. What sets Todd apart from other golf instructors is his extensive playing experience and competing in events all over the world; namely the PGA Tour Canada, PGA Tour, and international amateur events.

Randy’s passion lies in teaching and coaching competitive players and has devoted a great deal of time to provincial and national player development. Randy has received recognition for his work both provincially and nationally. Most notably 3-time Alberta PGA Junior Leader of the Year, multiple nominee for Alberta PGA Teacher of the Year, and 2019 Coach of the Year. He also has a great passion for playing the game and has enjoyed a very successful playing career winning numerous Pro events including the 1990 Canadian Assistants Championships, the 1998 Alberta PGA Championships, and the 2020 Alberta PGA Seniors Championships.

Luke attended the University of Alberta from 2003 to 2007, taking a Bachelor of Arts Degree with a Major in Psychology and a Minor in History. During this time, he continued to work at Pinebrook, first as a shop assistant and then in 2006 he passed his playing ability test and became an apprentice professional at Pinebrook. Teaching Philosophy: ’Golf is a sport that can be enjoyed for a lifetime and in order to enjoy golf for a lifetime a student must develop sound fundamentals. Sound fundamentals will allow the body to function in stress free way, which will allow the club to be swung pain free, and with impressive results.’ Luke specializes in junior instruction and creates a warm, friendly environment for each of his lessons.

Paul is entering his 41st year as a PGA of Canada member/teaching professional/certified professional golf coach he has had the opportunity to learn from many other masters in the field as well as his numerous students. Paul has developed a very strong reputation in the golf industry as a premier professional golf coach. Paul’s teaching business has grown through client referrals, and he is one of the busiest teaching professionals in the industry. Many of Paul’s students have won at all levels including the PGA Tour, Collegiate and Junior events along with World and National Long Drive Champions.

Born and raised in Calgary AB, Josh grew up playing the Cottonwood Golf and Country Club where he was mentored by PGA of Canada Professional, Tiffany Gordon.  After a successful junior career, he found himself playing varsity golf at the University of Victoria.  Realizing he had a passion for teaching the game he became a member of the PGA of Canada himself. With his outgoing personality, optimistic attitude, Josh has been managing the GOLFTEC Prairies franchise since 2013.  It has been his pleasure to help the GOLFTEC brand grow across the Prairies over the past 8 years.  By utilizing his Bachelor of Business Administration Degree with a specialty in Marketing, and a dedication to customer service, Josh plans to continue to bring fresh, new ideas to the GOLFTEC Operation.
