My real passion for golf started in 1988 when I was working as a Sales Representative in the food industry. I was fortunate to play in many amateur events and started to realize how much I loved the game.
I bought my first membership at the Calgary Golf & Country Club in the late 80’s/early 90’s and with the encouragement of Al Ewen and Tom Greiner, accepted a summer job at Heritage Pointe Golf Club in 1992. I went from an 18 hcp in 1992, to passing my PGA playability test in 1993. I still remember Dave Mayes being such an instrumental part of that experience; he was a prince of a man and gave us the confidence and support we needed when it was most critical.
I left Heritage Pointe in 1994 to work at the Jasper Park Lodge Golf Club as an Assistant/Associate for the next eleven years and eventually became Head Golf Professional in 2001 until I departed in 2004. Jasper is undoubtedly where I discovered my passion for teaching and was fortunate during that time to be recognized as “Teacher of the Year” for Northern Alberta in 1999 and the Bronze award winner in Canada by Score’s Golfers’ Choice awards, in July of 2003.
Passionate about the mountains, I moved from Jasper to Canmore and worked at the Silvertip Golf Resort in 2009 as the Head Golf Professional. Since then, I’ve worked at a number of facilities in the Calgary area and primarily in a teaching capacity, since 2011. For the past five years I’ve focused my efforts at Allshots Driving Range, until they closed their doors permanently in January of 2021.
In my spare time, you’ll find me hiking, skiing or horseback riding. In Alberta, sometimes on the same day!
