Fairmont Banff Springs Golf Club maintains lofty status

Way back in 1939, the National Golf Review magazine tabbed Stanley Thompson’s masterpiece in Banff National Park as the eighth-best course anywhere in the world. “So today, as we look at it, we’re constantly reminded that we’re here to be the custodians of that and make sure we maintain that vision.” said Steven Young, the director of golf at Fairmont Banff Springs. SCOREGolf Magazine’s latest rundown of the Top 100 Courses in Canada was revealed Saturday, and Banff Springs checks in at No. 6 in the biannual rankings. Other area courses to crack SCOREGolf’s Top 100 include the Links Course at Wolf Creek (30), Calgary Golf & Country Club (31), Stewart Creek (35), the Hawk at Priddis Greens (42) and Heritage Pointe (95).
