PGA of Alberta Golf Shows Cancelled

After much review and consideration from the Board of Directors, the Association has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2022 Calgary and Edmonton Golf Shows scheduled in March.

As we’ve all learned over the past two years, we still frequently see new developments related to COVID-19, and unfortunately it is no different starting off the new year with the Omicron variant taking hold of the world in unprecedented speed. The Association wants to keep everyone safe during these times and had to make the decision to postpone the Shows to 2023. If your facility purchased booth space at either Show this year, you will be refunded in full shortly.

Thank you for your support of the Alberta Golf Shows and for your understanding of this difficult decision. We look forward to bringing the Shows back in 2023 with the support of the entire industry.

Stay safe!

Expectations of Mentors…

  • Commit to your Mentor/Mentee relationship(s) for a minimum of 2-years
  • Be accountable for your Mentee and provide continuous support on an ongoing basis as needed
  • Set parameters of the relationship with the Mentee and create a plan for goals/objectives on what both parties want achieve
  • Attempt to meet in person with your Mentee twice (Spring & Fall). Example: This can be accomplished over a round of golf
  • Provide feedback to the office by completing the Mentor Evaluation Form when required

Top 100 Points…
All Mentors will receive 5 Top 100 Points max. for their involvement in the Mentorship Program. These points are awarded annually. All Mentors must execute the action items as indicated and submit the Evaluation Form before being eligible to receive the points. Points are only awarded for the first year of the program.

Form…
If interested in being involved, click the link below to submit the "Become A Mentor" form by February 18th, 2022. After the form has been submitted, you will be added to the Mentor list (if eligible) and MAY be assigned a Mentee in March (depending on total number of Mentors/Mentees, and geographical location). Pro Tip Tuesday is Coming Back

Pro Tip Tuesday is a social media initiative created in 2019 that will show off your skills as a Golf Professional and help bring exposure to you and your club. The Association will give golfers a reason to check out the PGA of Alberta Instagram account, including your own! We will start posting Pro Tip Tuesday submissions in December.

How do you become a part of Pro Tip Tuesday?
All you need to do is create a quick golf tip video between 30 seconds to 2 minutes and use the specific hash tag #pgaofabprotiptuesday and handle @pgaofalberta and the PGA of Alberta will re-post your video on their Instagram account every Tuesday. One video will be posted per week. We ask you to submit your video using the Dropbox link below in case you do not post on your own account.

Video Tips

  1. Be Professional. You are representing the Association so ensure you look and act the part.
  2. Intro. State your name, club, and position as the intro to your video.
  3. Length. Ensure your video is between 30 seconds to 2 minutes.
  4. Rehearse. Practise your video tip a few times before the final "shoot".
  5. Setting. Make sure there’s no noise/visual distractions around you so viewers can focus on you. Your video can be shot indoors or outdoors (weather permitting).

Look at past examples of Pro Tip Tuesday videos below for inspiration:

Top 100 Points
Everyone who participates in Pro Tip Tuesday will earn 3 Top 100 points for the new program year. You can only receive 3 points per year. We recommend doing more than one video but a max of 3 points will be rewarded for the Top 100 program.

Deadline
Deadline has been EXTENDED to Friday, December 10th for submission.
