Heffernan Rises Above on Day 1 at The Winston GC
29 June, 2020
The first 2-day of Golf Supply House Series of the season did not disappoint as the field showed up ready to play resulting in 15 players shooting even or better for round one. Leading the pack was last year’s Player of the Year Wes Heffernan (Dynamic Motion Golf Performance Centre) after finishing with a stellar 7-under 65. Wes carded 7 birdies while playing bogey free golf for the round to give him a 3-stroke lead going into day two.
Heading up the pack chasing our leader was Braden Chown (Desert Blume GC) and Riley Fleming (Lynx Ridge GC) who both carded great 4-under 68’s today to sit 3-back and solidified their respective places in the final grouping tomorrow.
Within striking distance of the final group tomorrow and tied for 4th is Jamie Gerlitz (Picture Butte GC) & Weston Gillett (Lacombe G&CC) who both carded solid 2-under par 70’s respectively. Sitting right behind them in a 4-way tie for 6th after at 1-under (71) is Host Professional Dale Tomlinson (The Winston GC), Mac Keats (The Links of GlenEagles), Matthew Kirlin (Lynx Ridge GC) & Spencer Vandermay (Edmonton Petroleum G&CC).
Tee times kick off at 8am sharp tomorrow (June 30) with our final group of Heffernan, Chown & Fleming heading out at 11:10am.
Congratulations to our Day 1 Skins winner Kurtis Foote (Country Hills GC) who won the only skin of the day on the par 3 17th and walked out with a cool $1,160.
