NAGA Alberta Update - Tuesday, May 4, 2021

Dear industry stakeholders,

Premier Kenney and the Alberta Government have today announced new mandatory restrictions affecting gathering limits, retail and restaurants, as well as outdoor sport and fitness for a minimum of 3 weeks. These new measures apply to all communities with more than 50 cases per 100,000 people and with 30 or more active cases. Please see below for restrictions affecting your operation:

Outdoor Social Gatherings: Outdoor gathering limit of no more than 5 individuals with 2 metre physical distancing mandatory between members of different households. (In effect Wednesday, May 5thRetail: Retail operations are limited to 10% capacity (not including staff) or a minimum of 5 customers. Curbside pickup, delivery and online services are encouraged. (In effect Wednesday, May 5th)

Restaurants & Patios: In person dining is prohibited both inside restaurant and on patios. Takeout and delivery is permitted. (In effect Sunday, May 9th at 11:59 pm)

Outdoor Sports & Recreation: Outdoor sports and recreation is now limited to members of your household, or if living alone to two close contacts. (In effect Sunday, May 9th at 11:59 pm)

  •  All group physical activities such as team sports, fitness classes, and training sessions
  •  All one-on-one lessons and training activities
  •  All practices, training and games

All indoor sport and recreation is prohibited.

We strongly urge all golf courses to remain vigilant as the safety of staff and guests remains our utmost priority and we ask that all facilities do their part to adhere to all AHS guidelines. 

NAGA AB, along with our government advocate Bruce McAllister, will be reaching out to the Alberta Government tomorrow for clarification on the outdoor sports and recreation enhanced public health measures and how it affects golf. Once we know more, we will reach out with an updated bulletin.
