Matthew Mah Matches Course Record to Capture PGA of Alberta Players’ 2-Day

30 July, 2026

ENTWISTLE, Alta.—A course record-tying performance propelled Matthew Mah (Mill Woods Golf Club) to victory at the PGA of Alberta Players’ 2-Day event at Trestle Creek Golf Resort.

Beginning the final round two shots off the lead, Mah fired a brilliant 8-under-par 64 to finish the event at 11-under-par (69-64), securing a one-shot victory. The Head Teaching Professional at Mill Woods Golf Club carded 10 birdies against just one bogey, matching the competitive course record in the process.

"It was nice to get out ahead a little bit with 31 on the front," said Mah. "I stumbled a bit on 12. Mitch (Fox) and I were out front a little bit, so it was fun battling it out with each other down the stretch. I had a birdie-birdie finish, and I got him by one."

Mitchell Fox (Speargrass Golf Club) mounted a strong charge of his own, closing with a 67 after an opening-round 69 to finish one stroke behind Mah at 10-under-par. The two professionals traded birdies throughout the final round before Mah’s late surge proved to be the difference.

Will Hazell-Penaluna (Strathmore Golf Club) rounded out the top three, finishing at 7-under-par for the championship, four shots back of the winner.

In the Seniors’ Division, Jeff Murdoch claimed top honours after posting rounds of 73 and 78 to capture the title.

The PGA of Alberta Players’ 2-Day event brought together 41 of the province’s top professionals for two days of competitive golf at Trestle Creek Golf Resort.
