29 May, 2020

After much discussion and review, we are excited to announce that the 2020 tournament season will officially begin on June 15th for the Pro-Pro Scramble at Redwood Meadows G&CC!! We are excited to get the season started safely and to see everyone back on the course! Please note the following important details:

IMPORTANT – Please refrain from posting any of this information on social media as we want to ensure we have all bases covered heading into the first tournament of the season.

Pro-Pro Scramble @ Redwood Meadows G&CC

  • We will be moving to tee times for this event and all team events this season. Start time will be approximately 8am (official start time will be announced later).
  • Carts will NOT be permitted for this event due to course capacity. Exemptions will be permitted for members with medical conditions if a doctor’s note is provided in advance.
  • Payment for this event will be processed on Wednesday, June 3rd @ 4pm. Be sure to WITHDRAW online before this date to avoid a penalty for withdrawing after.

Tournament of Champions @ Glendale G&CC

  • This event will be postponed to later in the season due to COVID-19. We want to ensure this event remains on the schedule as it’s a favourite for many Head/Executive Professionals and their club champions. Members will receive an update with the new date once finalized.

All other tournaments currently on the website are still planned as scheduled however we will continue to review the tournament program moving forward to see if any adjustments are needed.

More information will be released next week including a COVID-19 Tournament Guide for events this season but please note the following amendments to the Tournament Rules & Regulations this year:

Payment Processing Date
The Payment Processing Date will be 28-days prior to the event date, however as mentioned above, payment for the Pro-Pro Scramble along with the GSH Series at Coal Creek GR (June 23) and The Winston GC (June 29 & 30) will be processed on Wednesday, June 3rd @ 4pm (all events are inside 28-days).

Please ensure you WITHDRAW online before this date if you know you will not be playing in any of these events.

Withdrawal Policy
The Withdrawal Policy this year will be slightly modified to make withdrawing from tournaments less burdensome for members due to all of the different impacts of the virus. The policy will be modified to the following:

  • Withdrawal up to 14-days prior to event date = Full Refund
  • Withdrawal less than 14 days prior to event date but before the Registration Deadline (Thursday prior to event date) = $50 Withdrawal Fee
  • Withdrawal after draw is posted, after Registration Deadline = No Refund

Caddies/Spectators
Caddies and spectators will NOT be allowed at PGA of Alberta tournaments in 2020 unless specified otherwise to reduce the amount of people at the course.

Motorized Transportation
Carts will be permitted at tournaments this season at 1 cart per person unless the host venue does not have the capacity to accommodate. This will be communicated to players in advance if carts are NOT permitted at a specific event.

Flags/Cup Modification
The flag will remain in at all times during tournaments. The Association will be using the Pin Caddy tool at tournaments to ensure we maintain the integrity of the game. Players will be allowed to spin the Pin Caddy device around before they putt if they feel the pole will affect their shot.

Mobile Scoring
We will be utilizing online scoring this season through IMPACT Tournament Systems to avoid exchanging scorecards. Players will be emailed an access code to log-in to IMPACT scoring online and use their phone to score for one of their playing partners. You do NOT need to download an app to use the IMPACT online scoring.

Players will determine amongst themselves whose scores they are tracking on the first tee. It is the responsibility of the player to keep track of their own score.

For players without a smartphone/data, we will ask someone in your group to keep track of the other two players in the group for stroke plays.
