MERCHANDISING: VISUAL MERCHANDISING

Becky Wilkins of The Association of Golf Merchandisers will help you take your merchandising skills to the next level. During this 6 hour workshop you will focus on pricing strategy, visual communication methods, and visual display basics, signage and props usage to make your shop a showcase. The workshop will conclude with “hands on merchandising experience” where you will build displays with props utilizing specific goals and design principles you have learned and can put into practice for the 2012 golf season.

  • Pricing - Are You Short Changing Your Shop?
    You will cover the procedures for creating the right pricing strategy to achieve your planned net profit. Learn to reach your goals by optimizing how you price your products and how you utilize markdowns to increase profitability in today’s business environment.
  • What Are You Communicating to Your Members/Customers?
    How is your communication affecting how your customers view your shop and what they purchase?
    1. Inside the shop through visual communication and signage.
    2. Within the facility on the property.
    3. Through outside methods such as newsletters and Social Marketing.
  • Presentation is Everything + Top 100 Slideshow
    Includes an array of photographs from Top 100 shops as examples as well as others to show positive and negative effects of visual merchandising. This can be a great motivator to either start merchandising at a higher level, or just get a few more tricks to supplement what you are already doing.


GUEST SPEAKER: Becky Wilkins, Association of Golf Merchandisers


Becky Wilkins is the owner of Retail Management Associates, a buying and consulting company with a focus on small specialty shops including golf. Her shops have garnered the coveted Golf World Business “Top 100” status for over eight years.

She began her career in retail by completing the Executive Buying Program for Macy’s in San Francisco and has been buying and consulting for multiple shops on the west coast for over 20 years. The focus of Retail Management Associates is on inventory and buying plans, product mix and profitability analysis by department for independent retail shops.

Becky is the Northwest Region Director for the Association of Golf Merchandisers, a frequent presenter at regional seminars and national conferences, a member of the AGM Education Team and a recipient of the “Excellence in Education” award.
