PGA of Alberta Professionals Mike Belbin (Royal Mayfair GC) and Tyler LeBouthillier (Silver Springs G&CC) will be heading to the Wyndance GC in Ontario to compete against the 64 player field beginning on June 24th. GERLITZ LOVES PLAYING AT OLDS

Jamie Gerlitz loves playing at the Olds Central Highlands GC. For the second year in a row Jamie Gerlitz (Picture Butte GC) won the Golf Supply House Professional Series Event with a score of 4–over 76. Last year Jamie shot the course record 65 on his way to victory. 60 KM winds made conditions a lot more challenging for the field this year. 4 players tied for second with 77’s.

CAMERON LIKES THE WIND

Timothy Cameron (Sirocco GC) battled the wind and won the Golf Supply House Professional Series Event, shooting 1-under 71 at the Strathmore GC. Shaw Charity Classic Qualifiers Announced

The PGA of Alberta will be hosting two qualifiers for the 2014 Shaw Charity Classic. The Pre-Qualifier which is open to Amateurs and Professionals alike, aged 50 years or older, will be taking place at The Hamptons GC on August 21st. Those who qualify for the Event Qualifier will head to Canyon Meadows G&CC on August 26th. The Shaw Charity Classic will be taking place at Canyon Meadows G&CC from August 27th to August 31st. Golf Tip: Let the ball get in the way of your swing

In teaching the beginning golfer, having established the proper grip, stance, posture and positioning of the ball, one can proceed with the motion of the swing itself and to convince the student to swing the clubhead, rather than slug or swipe at the ball. Craig Gibson (Brooks GC) enjoyed the day at Picture Butte GC on his way to winning his first Golf Supply House Professional Series Event. Gibson shot a blistering round of 4-under 68. New for 2014 there will be 5 PGA of Alberta Junior Scholarships of $1000 each. Two of these scholarships will be awarded to children of PGA of Alberta Members (no golf experience needed) and the other three will be awarded to selected Alberta Juinor boys or girls, 18 years or younger, who meet the specific criteria. Halpen wins one hole playoff to claim Players’ tour trophy

Todd Halpen of the Golf Canada Centre defeated Scott Allred of Elbow Springs GC in a one hole playoff, shooting rounds of 71-72 to win the second Players’ Tour event of 2014 at River Spirit GC. The second of four Players’ Tour events is scheduled to take place on June 9th and 10th at River Spirit GC in Calgary, Alberta. Fourty-six players will be competing for a purse of $11,200 and points towards the year-end Tour Championship. Tee-times for day one are scheduled to begin at 12:30pm. Troy Golden and the Windermere G&CC Win at the 2014 Pro-Lady North

Troy and his partner Barb Flaman of the Windermere G&CC won the team side of the Caulfeild Pro-Lady North today at the Edmonton Petroleum G&CC. Troy and Barb shot a best-ball score of 8-under 64 to defeat the team from Carstairs GC by two strokes.
