The excellent conditions at The Ranch G&CC in Acheson led Scott Anderson (The Golf Academy at River Bend) to shoot a 3-under par round of 68 to lead after the first round of the second event in the 2016 PGA of Alberta Players' Tour. Scott Borsa (Devon GC) and Nicholas Vandermey (Links at Spruce Grove) sit one shot back after a round of 2-under 69, while Jeff Cuthbertson (Stony Plain GC) and Matthew Mah (Mill Woods GC) are two shots behind after rounds of 1-under 70. Owen McCarthy (Dorchester Ranch GC), Jacob Cartier (Sturgeon Valley G&CC) and Craig Gibson (Sirocco GC) all shot even par. Click here for full round one results and round two tee times.
In the wake of ‘the beast’, their clubhouse, halfway hut and a sizeable majority of their carts are no more; fenced off and covered in a healthy dose of tackfire. That has yet to impede their plan to reopen July 1, with their nine-hole expansion pushed back to a tentative date of Aug. 1. The PGA on Wheels program took to Sylvan Lake this past weekend on June 11th to take part in the 1913 Days Parade on Lakeshore Drive. The PGA on Wheels area saw many juniors throughout the day taking part in various golfing activities making the first event of 2016 a successful one. The next stop on the PGA on Wheels circuit is the Canada Day Parade in Canmore on Friday, July 1st. For more information on the PGA on Wheels initiative, please click here.
Country Hills GC (Brett Burgeson and Scott Secord) won the Callaway Golf Tournament of Champions title today at the Redwood Meadows G&CC, finishing with a notable 8-under 64 in the best ball format. Teams from Windermere G&CC (Jason Hnatiw and Jason Martens) and Inglewood G&CC (Jason Stanier and Gerry MacDonald) finished in a tie for second with 65’s. Click here for full event results.
Kyle Crawford (Broadmoor GC) and his partner Dianna Houtstra win the team side of the PGA of Alberta Pro-Lady North sponsored by EFW Radiology with a team net score of 66 (tie was broken by retrogression). Ryan Condon (Hinton GC) takes home the low individual professional trophy with a score of 2-under 70 at Raven Crest G&CC. Click here for all results.
