The team of Gregg Schubert and Jamie Kureluk of Cottonwood G&CC shot a 2nd round score of 10-under par for a two-day total of 13-under at Heritage Pointe GC to claim the 2009 Callaway Golf Pro-Assistant. First-day leaders Kevin Broderson and Jamie Gerlitz of Lacombe G&CC finished second alone at 9-under. Glendale G&CC and Whitecourt G&CC finished four shots further back in a tie for third.

Team Alberta Leads Inter-Zone Competition at CPGA Assistants' Championship
Mike Belbin of Royal Mayfair GC, Jamie Kureluk of Cottonwood G&CC, Darryl James of the National Golf Academy at McCall Lake, and Kevin Black of the Mill Woods GC combined for a team score of 13-under par on Day 1 of the Canadian PGA Assistants' Championship to lead the Inter-Zone competition by two shots over Ontario. James' 5-under 67 puts him in a tie for second overall, while the other three Albertans sit in a tie for fifth at 4-under heading into Round 2 action.
Team Alberta Wins the Inter-Zone Competition at the CPGA Assistants' Championship
Led by Mike Belbin of Royal Mayfair GC and Darryl James of the National Golf Academy at McCall Lake, Team Alberta captured a victory in the Inter-Zone competition at the Canadian PGA Assistants' Championship in Quebec City. Jamie Kureluk of Cottonwood G&CC and Kevin Black of Mill Woods GC also contributed solid performances. All four players enter the third and final round with a chance to win their first national Assistants' title, with Belbin and James leading the way at the top of the leaderboard.

Mike Belbin of the Royal Mayfair GC defeated Brett Burgeson of Country Hills GC in the final of the 2009 PGA of Alberta Match Play Championship at Red Deer G&CC. Both Players had won six previous matches to reach the final. In the consolation final, Ryan Matiushyk defeated Quinn Powell of River's Edge GC.

The season long PGA of Alberta Match Play Championship draws to a close on Thursday September 17 at the Red Deer G&CC. Brett Burgeson and Mike Belbin will compete for the Championship Title while Quinn Powell and Ryan Matiushyk will battle for the consolation prize. Both matches begin at 10:30am
Gord Courage Claims the 2009 Bridgestone Senior Championship title at Highlands GC
Gord Courage of the CC of the Hamptons shot a second straight under-par round today to win the 2009 Bridgestone Senior Championship at Highlands GC. Kevin Day of Billy D's Golf Centre finished alone in second, four shots ahead of PGA of Alberta Life Members Frank Fowler and Wayne Stark, who also shared the Super Senior title for players over 60 years of age.
Gord Courage of the CC of the Hamptons leads a field of 26 of the PGA of Alberta's Senior Professionals by five shots heading into the second round of the 2009 Bridgestone Senior Championship. Courage shot a round of 3-under 68 today at Highlands GC, while Frank Fowler, a PGA of Alberta Life Member, shot 73 to sit in second.
