Dustin Risdon Wins PGA Assistants’ Championship of Canada presented by Callaway Golf

Dustin Risdon put the hammer down Thursday at Lora Bay Golf Club, winning the PGA Assistants’ Championship of Canada presented by Callaway Golf in astonishing fashion. The 35-year-old’s three-day total of 18-under-par (67-67-64) was 11-shots better than his nearest competitors, Mike Belbin, Thomas Keddy and Bryn Parry. “All week I had the same goal of getting to 18-under-par,” Risdon said. “I had to make three birdies coming home to get to the number and I did, so that’s pretty awesome.” Risdon’s final round 8-under-par 64 included nine birdies and a bogey—his first and only of the championship—at No. 11.

Calgary Golf Professional caps off outstanding Tournament season

Ridiculous. How else do you explain the season that Dustin Risdon has had on the PGA of Alberta Tour? Including last week’s Sunice Tour Championship at Sundre GC— which he won by a staggering eight shots while shooting a course record 64 in the final round — Risdon has taken seven of the eight PGA of Alberta events he entered. In his only loss he finished second — at Calgary’s Heritage Pointe in brutal conditions. The runaway Order of Merit leader and a cinch to win Player of the Year, Risdon was as self-effacing as usual when describing his season that saw him win two professional series’ events, the Pro-Junior, a Players Tour event and three championships. Click here to read what Risdon had to say about his stellar season in the article written by Curtis Stock – Edmonton Journal.

After caddying at Shaw Charity Classic, Calgary Professional Dustin Risdon will tee it up at PGA of Alberta Tour Championsip

He’s admittedly more passionate now about teaching than swinging his own sticks. For local instructor Dustin Risdon, that short-term gig — lugging the weaponry for Spain’s Miguel Angel Martin during the 2016 Shaw Charity Classic — was all about gaining knowledge to share with his students. After donning a caddie bib last week, Risdon should be wearing a bullseye Tuesday-Wednesday at the PGA of Alberta’s Sunice Tour Championship at Sundre Golf Club. “Obviously, everything has gone my way,” said Risdon, who has a sparkling scoring average of 67.11 in eight PGA of Alberta get-togethers this season. “I didn’t plan on playing this well. But I got the Assistants Championship and the PGA Championship, so I guess this would be the last one on the list.” Click here to read the full article by Wes Gilbertson – Calgary Sun.
