Rick Sovereign "Pursuit of a Dream" Fund

Description: Rick Sovereign, a long time PGA of Canada member, passed away from prostate cancer in January 2014. He was a dedicated, proud Canadian and professional golfer who inspired countless friends, family, and fellow professionals with his positive attitude, boundless energy, and contagious enthusiasm for his passion. He had an enduring dream that he pursued relentlessly; to succeed at the highest level possible in professional golf.

As such, it was one of Rick’s final wishes for his friends and family to carry on and try to help others who are pursuing their own similar dreams. Rick was a dedicated family man, who leaves behind his wife Barb, and their two daughters Kristen and Kelly. Barb and the girls wholeheartedly supported Rick’s request and formed the "Rick Sovereign Pursuit of a Dream" fund in 2014.

The fund will provide $2,000 annually to a Canadian golf professional (male or female) who has demonstrated, and continues to demonstrate, the same ideals and passion that Rick had. All Canadian professional golfers are eligible, and the selected candidate will be chosen by a selection committee under the oversight of Golf Canada Foundation.
