What started out for fun on the links in Vancouver, BC, has turned into a lifelong passion and profession for one of the Canadian PGA’s most recognized and dedicated Members, who began his career with the CPGA in 1960.

His first Head Professional job came in 1972, where Bill made the move from Montreal to the Windermere Golf & Country Club in Edmonton, Alberta.  He remained as Head Professional at ‘Windy’ for twenty years, before taking on other challenges at smaller clubs throughout the province, sharing the knowledge he gained in the profession with other individuals and golf clubs, helping to groom eight Assistant Professionals through the doors and into Head Professional positions of their own, while at the same time creating employment opportunities for CPGA Members in some of Alberta’s rural areas.

Treating all Members who walked in through the Pro Shop doors equally and providing the utmost in care and attention to detail, Bill’s successes in the industry extend far outside the Pro Shop walls, both as a Player and Member of the CPGA.  In 1980, he won the PGA of Alberta Championship, and he won the provincial Senior Championship, the year he became eligible in 1990.  In 1988, he was voted by his peers as the Club Professional of the Year, and in 1994 decided to give back to the Association by successfully running for the Board of Directors and contributing as Employment Director for six years.

Bill decided to put his past experiences to good use and help pass his knowledge and experience onto the next generation of golf professionals, as an Instructor at Grant MacEwan College.  He has also committed to being an instructor at the Links for Women Golf Schools, and the Alberta’s Ladies’ Provincial Golf Camps.

Throughout his professional career and in various roles within the industry, Bill has always stayed involved with the Association. He continues to attend events within the golf industry, maintaining close ties with his many industry peers as well as keeping informed on industry trends and developments.  His professionalism and attitude have made him a valuable Member of the PGA of Canada, who is held in the highest regard by all Members.
