Matt was born and raised in Calgary Alberta, as he grew up he competed in many of the surrounding junior golf tournaments growing his love for the game of golf. Another major influence in Matts’s journey towards the PGA was his father Grant Cook, Who was a part of the PGA of Alberta for many years. Grant has since passed, and through the unfortunate loss of his father, it propelled him forward to keep his last name in the industry. A major part of Matt’s junior career was having the privilege to be a part of the Priddis Greens Golf and Country Club junior program for an amazing 5 years. It was after that where Matt got his first taste of the golf operations side of the industry working 4 years as a pro shop assistant, also at Priddis Greens. as of February 2021 Matt joined the industry under the Riverside Golf Academy growing his passion and knowledge of teaching the game of golf
