Opening Qualifier Results - Click here

The Team Match Play Championship will have an opening round in the North and South. The format for the opening rounds will be a two-man best ball qualifier to determine rankings for the first round of the tournament. A small purse will be attached to the qualifiers for the top placing teams.

After the opening qualifying rounds, matches will resume as normal with the brackets being created based on the results from the qualifiers. Teams will coordinate all of their matches after the opening qualifying round. The top ranking teams from the qualifiers will play the bottom ranking teams. If byes are needed due to an uneven number of teams, the byes will go to the top finishing teams from the qualifier.

The consolation side of the Championship has been removed. All teams will be guaranteed the qualifying round plus the first round of the tournament (two rounds total). This means if you lose your opening match (after the qualifier), the team will be knocked out of the tournament.

Conditions of Competition:

  1. Open to all Category I & II PGA of Alberta Members in good standing.
  2. Teams shall consist of two PGA of Alberta Members (Class A) or Apprentice Professional. Team members do not need to be from the same facility.
  3. There will be a maximum of 64 teams (32 North and 32 South).
  4. All teams will be guaranteed the opening qualifying round plus their round one match.
  5. Winners of round one match will continue on to round two. Losing teams from round one will be eliminated from the tournament.
  6. Teams will have approximately 3-4 weeks to complete each match of the tournament.
  7. If all four members cannot agree on a date and time for their match, the office will flip a coin to determine who will move on to the next round. A team can play a match with one player in order to have the match completed on time.

Partner Rule: Each team is only allowed one partner change/replacement through the duration of the Team Match Play Championship. The replacement player must not have already played in the tournament and they must remain on the team for the remainder of the matches. Teams will not be allowed to change back to the original partner. The team is only allowed one partner change for the tournament, if they need another replacement due to injury or scheduling conflict, they will not be allowed.
