Playoff Needed at Jagare

Two extra holes were needed at Jagare Ridge GC to decide the winner of the Golf Supply House Series event. Gage Murphy (Cardiff G&CC) birdie both playoff holes to defeat Kasey Timms (Glendale G&CC) and Jeff Cuthbertson (Stony Plain GC).  All 3 players finished the day with scores of 1-under 70’s.  Keith Whitecotton (The Quarry) finished 1 shot out of the playoff carding an even par 71.

Wolf Creek GR is ready to host the second two-day Golf Supply House Series event of the season taking place on July 3rd & 4th. The event will see a competitive field of 51 players competing for a purse of $11,400. Tee times will begin at 1pm on July 3rd for round one and 8am on July 4th for round two.

Junior Scholarship Deadline is July 13th!

The PGA of Alberta is proud to present four Junior Scholarships of $1,000 each. Two of these scholarships will be awarded to children of PGA of Alberta Members (no golf experience needed) and the other two will be awarded to selected Alberta Juniors, 25 years or younger, who meet the specific criteria.

Deadline is Friday, July 13th.

Team Cardiff wins Pro-Lady North!

The 2017 defending champions and host professional Dallas Cantera (Cardiff G&CC) with partner Dani Perl shot a team total 9-under 63 to capture their second Pro-Lady North title in two years at their home course, sponsored by Pixel Army & EFW Radiology. Jeff Cuthbertson (Stony Plain GC) and partner Doris Bayrak finished with a 7-under 65 to capture sole possession of second place. Jeff Cuthbertson also captured the individual pro side with a blistering 5-under 67.

The Winston GC to Host PGA Assistants’ Championship of Canada

The PGA Assistants’ Championship of Canada presented by Callaway Golf heads to Calgary this September. The Winston GC hosts the national championship Sept. 16-19 and will undoubtedly feature a field deep with talent. “On behalf of the board of directors, membership and staff, we could not be more thrilled to be hosting this year’s PGA Assistants’ Championship of Canada presented by Callaway Golf,” said The Winston GC’s Head Golf Professional Dale Tomlinson. “Since 1923 the club has hosted numerous championships, most notably the 2007 Mackenzie Tour-PGA TOUR Canada’s ATB Classic and most recently the 2012 PGA of Alberta PGA Championship,” he said, adding, “with superb course conditions, fantastic weather through September, we believe this championship will be remembered for many years to come and look forward to hosting PGA members from coast to coast”. Pro-Lady North Draw – Cardiff G&CC

Take two for the Pro-Lady North sponsored by EFW Radiology and Pixel Army. Being hosted at Cardiff G&CC on June 25th, the original round earlier in the month was unfortunately cancelled due to weather but fingers crossed for better luck this time around. Thirty teams will head to Cardiff G&CC for the 10am shotgun start to compete for a chance to hold the trophies at the end.

The PGA of Alberta would like to invite you to showcase your company and products at the annual PGA of Alberta Buying Show on October 16th – 18th, 2018. 

 A 5% discount on rates will be offered if registration and payment is received prior to
July 16th, 2018.


The purpose of the Show is to bring Golf Professionals, Equipment Manufacturers and Sales Representatives together, in order for them to prepare their inventories for the following season. Over the course of the three days, nearly 1,200 people gather from across the country and around the world to take a look at what’s new and exciting in the golf industry. Our Buying Show continues to be the only “full scale” show of its kind in Canada and it is with great pride that we host this show every fall for our Members, Industry Suppliers and guests of the Industry.  The Buying Show is an event that is restricted to PGA of Canada Members, Non-PGA of Canada Facilities and Golf Industry Equipment Manufacturers.

PGA on Wheels Attends All Sport One Day Event in Calgary

For the second year in a row, the PGA on Wheels attended the Sport Calgary All Sport One Day event in Calgary. In partnership with Alberta Golf and the City of Calgary, the PGA on Wheels area saw over 120 kids aged six all the way to seventeen who were introduced to the game and took part in various junior golf activities. Big thank you goes to our Professionals Dustin Risdon (NGA @ McCall Lake), Edmund Dzieciuch (Apply Creek GC), Gary Slatter (PGA of Alberta Member), Sean Murray (Bearspaw CC), Sean Thompson (Cottonwood G&CC) & Terry Carter (NGA @ McCall Lake) for volunteering their time to support the PGA on Wheels program.

The final PGA on Wheels event for the summer will be the Stampede Breakfast taking place July 8th at the Golf Canada Calgary Centre.

Lynx Ridge Playing Ability Test – Final Results

After a two day battle at Lynx Ridge GC, one player successfully passed their Playing Ability Test. Congratulations to Andrew Moore  of Silver Springs G&CC on being the newest Member of the PGA of Canada after shooting a two-day score of 159 to achieve the CFM Target Score.

Fleming Challenged by Heffernan at the Lynx

The warm weather and ideal course conditions for round two made for a perfect day at Lynx Ridge GC as 55 competitors battled it out to win the first two-day event of the Golf Supply House Series.

Starting the day at 4-under, Riley Fleming (NGA Dome) was able to maintain his day one lead over the rest of the competition. Riley finished round two with a 6-under 65 finishing with two birdies on the last three holes to claim his third victory of the season with a 67-65-132. Wes Heffernan (Golf Canada Centre) was able to climb his way up the leaderboard to capture sole possession of second place as he followed up his impressive round one with an eagle on 16 which put him only three strokes back at 71-64-135.

Finishing in a two-way tie for third place was Dillon Batsel (Connaught GC) and Nicholas Vander Mey (Windermere G&CC) who both finished the tournament with a total of 139. Finishing in sole possession of fifth place was Dustin Risdon (NGA @ McCall Lake) who finished with a two-day total of 140 and fought to the very end with a birdie on 18.

Final Results

The next Golf Supply House Series event on the schedule is at Jagare Ridge GC in Edmonton on June 18th which will see approximately 50 of the top Professionals in Alberta.

Today the PGA of Alberta is comprised of over 550 Golf Professionals who are Leaders in Golf. We are Teachers, Managers, Merchandisers, Mentors, Promoters, Players and Ambassadors. We provide Instruction to all golfers, Leadership for all golf environments and the Expertise necessary to handle any situation. Our livelihood is Golf. Whatever Golf means to you.

The start time for round one of the Club Professional Championship on Monday, July 30th at Innisfail GC has changed from 9am to 11am crossover, two hours later. Round two start time remains the same at 9am. For more information on the event, please click here.

Stony Plain GC Wins Tournament of Champions

Team Stony Plain GC consisting of Executive Professional Jeff Cuthbertson and amateur Jeff Murdoch took home the 2018 Callaway Golf Tournament of Champions after posting a blistering low score of 12-under 60.  Team Stony Plain were able to finish the front nine with a 7-under 29 and rounded out the back nine with a 5-under 31. Coming in second place was team Inglewood G&CC where Jason Stanier (Inglewood G&CC) and amateur Gerry MacDonald posted an 11-under 61. In a five-way tie for third place was team Country Hills GC, The Winston GC, Dinosaur Trail G&CC, Glendale G&CC and Windermere G&CC who all posted scores of 8-under 64.

Second Win of the Season for Riley Fleming

Riley Fleming (NGA Dome) is off to an excellent start this season as he took home his second win of 2018 at River Spirit GC. Riley jumped off to a steady start to the round after posting 8 pars and 1 birdie on the front nine and another 5 birdies on the back nine, for a tournament low 4-under 68 to capture the fourth Golf Supply House Series event of the season. In a three-way tie for 2nd place and falling one stroke short from forcing a playoff was Phil McCluskey (Dinosaur Trail G&CC), Jordan Fenwick (GolfTEC Calgary) & Scott Stiles (Inglewood G&CC) who all posted a 3-under 69.

Nearly five years after the devastating floods, the restoration and renovation efforts at Inglewood G&CC are complete. With two remodelled holes re-opening prior to the Victoria Day long weekend, there’s no longer a need for temporary greens at the popular semi-private setup. “Now, we have the full golf course back and better than it was before the flood,” said Jason Stanier, PGA of Alberta Executive Professional at Inglewood. “We’re excited about that”.
