Halpen Hauls in Ping Canada Club Pro Championship at Hamptons GC

Players were treated to wonderful day at the PING Canada Club Pro Championship hosted at the prestigious Hamptons GC. The course & elements provided an excellent challenge for players throughout the two days as they battled to keep scores low as possible.

It was an incredibly exciting day as the Leaderboard tightened up throughout the back-9 for our final few groups and ended up requiring a 2-Hole playoff to determine our 2021 Ping Canada Club Professional Champion. Todd Halpen (Golfuture YYC) and Darryl James ((National Golf Academy at Shaganappi) featured in our playoff and we had a near miss from Darryl on #1 for a Birdie to end it right there. Todd and Darryl then both had Birdie looks on #2 and Todd was able to drain his approximate 6-foot putt for the victory!

Our 2021 Club Pro Champion is: Todd Halpen (Golfuture YYC) who followed up last week’s Pro-Senior victory with the Club Pro this week. Todd battled all day on a challenging course and had some ups and downs but, did enough to come from behind and force a playoff. Todd shot 37’s on the front and back today to card a 74 and finish with a Championship two-day total of: 146.

In sole possession of Second place was: Darryl James (National Golf Academy at Shaganappi) who put together two solid rounds and also managed to come from behind today and force the playoff. Darryl shot a 35 on the front-9 and followed up with a 36 on the back for a Round 2 score of 1-under par 71. Darryl finished with a Championship two-day total of: 146.

In a two-way tie for Third place, after both finishing with two-day championship totals of: 147, was: Pat Wilmot (Earl Grey GC) & Jeremy Maher (Modern Golf). Pat battled all day and finished the tournament at a very respectable +3 score. Jeremy played two consistent rounds and also finished at a +3 score overall.

In a three-way tie for Fifth place, all with two-day Championship totals of: 149, was: Adam Bruce (Leduc GC), Phil McCluskey (Riverbend G&RA) & Samuel Hart (Bearspaw GC).

In sole possession of Eighth place was: Host Professional, Gord Courage (Hamptons GC) who finished with a two-day Championship total of: 150.

Rounding out our Top-10 today, in a three-way tie for Ninth place, was: Jeff Cuthbertson (Stony Plain GC), Kevin Day (Billy D’s GC) & Samuel Kirkness (Inglewood G&CC) who all finished with two-day Championship totals of: 151.

After a perfect day of weather at The Links at Spruce Grove, Wes Heffernan of Dynamic Motion Golf Performance Centre moves back to the winners circle after a stellar performance today at the third Golf Supply House Series of the season.

In typical Heffernan fashion, Wes played a bogey-free round today which included 5 birdies and 1 eagle to finish at 7-under 65 and win the tournament by a convincing three strokes. This marks the first win of the season for Wes after winning two PGA of Alberta events last year.

Finishing in second place was the likes of Kasey Timms (Royal Mayfair GC) and Mitchell Fox (Speargrass GC) after both shooting excellent rounds of 4-under 68.

Falling one back of Timms and Fox was Jeff Cuthbertson (Stony Plain GC) taking fourth place with a 3-under 69. Rounding out the top five was another solid tournament player Kevin Black (Redwood Meadows G&CC) shooting a solid 2-under 70.

Since there were no skins winners today at the event, the skins money has been added to the purse and distributed accordingly based on payout percentages. Congratulations to all players that earned a cheque.
