2022 PAT Schedule - Turn Your Passion Into a Career
Registration for the 2022 Play Ability Tests (PAT) is now open! Take note of the PAT schedule by clicking ’View Schedule’ below. There will be five PAT’s in total this season.
Be sure to pass this information on to anyone interested in becoming a member of the PGA of Canada at your facility! For more information on the steps to become a member, please refer to the PGA of Canada Membership Roadmap.
About the PAT… The PAT is standardized testing all Applicants must pass in order to be eligible to apply for membership. All prospective Applicants are required to register with the PGA of Canada prior to registering for a PAT in 2022. Once an application has been accepted, the PGA of Canada will notify the PGA of Alberta office that there is a new Applicant who will be attempting a PAT. The PAT’s are conducted by the Zones.
Prospective members must meet the following entrance requirements:
Be 18 years of age or older
Have a high school diploma or higher
Currently working in the golf industry to be verified by your employer, and work a minimum of400 paid hoursper year by December 1st
Two reference letters, one from your employer and one from a PGA of Canada Class "A" Member
Complete a police check with Sterling BackCheck Online
Pass a sanctioned Playing Ability Test
PAT Target Score...
1 round PAT (18 holes)
No maximum number of attempts per year
All PAT’s are open to all Applicants
For Men, 49 years of age & under - the course rating plus 9
For Men, 50 years of age & older - the course rating plus 11
For Women, 49 years of age & under- the course rating plus 13
For Women, 50 years of age & older - the course rating plus 15
PAT Process... Step 1 - Register online at pgaofcanada.com - The cost is $325 plus tax, which includes your first PAT attempt and is valid for one year from the date of the registration. After a year, you must re-register as an Applicant to register for and attempt a PAT.
Step 2 - Register online at pgaofcanada.com for all PAT’s - ($150 plus tax per each additional attempt)
If an Applicant is unsuccessful in each of their PAT attempts over the course of a season, those Applicants may try again the following season. Successful Applicants will pay membership dues for the upcoming season at that time.

PGA of Alberta and The Cart Locker Form New Partnership

The Top 100 Program presented by Foresight Sports Canada is based on pre-defined measurable criteria and is designed to recognize PGA of Alberta members who dedicate their time and demonstrate proven abilities in advancing the Association’s interests for the benefit of all Golf Professionals. The yearly award given out at the Awards Banquet in October will be for the most points accumulated from October to the end of September of the following year.
As of April 19th, Bryce Halverson (Carnmoney GC) sits atop the membership in the Top 100 standings at 53 points! Bryce has finished inside the top 5 the last two years and is eyeing his first Top 100 Award with the PGA of Alberta. That accomplishment will be easier said than done however with Greg Johnson (Inglewood G&CC) currently sitting two points back at 51 and many other members within arms reach of Bryce. How to Earn Points With the tournament season just around the corner, members can earn points by playing in PGA of Alberta sanctioned tournaments (2 points/round). In addition to participating, members can also earn points based on their performance at PGA of Alberta stroke-play events (2 points/round 75 & under). The 2022 Alberta Teaching Summit is scheduled for June 13th/14th at The Glencoe G&CC. The goal of this program itself, is to elevate the collective skills of PGA of Alberta Golf Professionals as instructors and coaches. This Teaching Summit is open to all PGA of Alberta members looking to improve their abilities, strategies, and methods, especially those who are looking to find their strengths and pathway as instructors and coaches. This year’s edition of the Alberta Teaching Summit will feature 4 leading professionals from within our association to facilitate the event over both days, leading participants through different themes and topics.

Stephen Yanitski Elected as Vice President of Assistants’ Board
Congratulations to Stephen Yanitskiof Valley Ridge GC on being elected as the new Vice President of the PGA of Alberta Assistants’ Board of Directors.
Stephen has been a member of the Assistants’ Board since the beginning of 2020 and has been actively involved in the Association including sitting on the Education Committee. He is also the recipient of the PGA of Alberta Junior Leader of the Year Award in 2021.
The Association would also like to welcome Robbie Johnson (Banff Springs GC) as the newest member to the Assistants’ Board. The Board is in great hands moving forward with President Bryce Halverson (Carnmoney GC) and the other Board members all striving towards making a positive impact for the Association and Assistant Professionals.
About the Assistants’ Board of Directors... Up to nine Class "A" Members or Apprentice Professionals are invited to run annually for two-year terms on the Assistants’ Board of Directors, and upon election assume a portfolio, and attend Committee meetings consistent with those on the Board of Directors.
